Italian Greyhound breeder banned for running illegal breeding business

AN ITALIAN Greyhound breeder who ran an unlicensed business from her home has been banned for life by the Kennel Cub.

  In November, Susan Thomas (Francole), 57, of Heol y Bryn in Rhdyfelin, Pontypridd, pleaded guilty to several charges at Cardiff Crown Court. She was convicted of running the breeding establishment without a licence, failing to ensure the needs of the dogs were met, engaging in a misleading commercial practice – namely making false statements about her name and address, and contravening regulations by placing advertisement and implying falsely she was not acting as a breeder.

  She banned for five years, ordered to complete a 12-month supervision order and told to reduce the number of dogs she kept to four. The court heard that in 2012 she was convicted of failing to register with the council and failing to allow her dogs to exhibit their normal behaviour patterns by keeping them in cages for hours at a time.

  The KC’s Disciplinary Sub-Committee considered the matter recently and imposed the following disqualifications:

  • From exhibiting at, taking part in, attending and/or having any connection with any event licensed by the club A11j4;
  • From being or becoming a member of any canine club or society registered with or affiliated to the KC A11j5;
  • From acting as an officer or serving on the committee of any canine society A11j6;
  • From taking part in the management of any event licensed by the club A11j7;
  • From judging at any KC-licensed event A11j8;
  • From registering any or all dogs and/or progeny of such dogs who are owned nd/or registered by her, whether or not jointly owned and/or whether or not owned and/or registered in the name of a nominee A11j9.
