A NEW ‘free and open’ Irish Wolfhound pedigree database will be launched at Crufts on the Sunday of the show, hound day.
A working group for the breed has been busy for more than a year behind the scenes, building what they say is a massive resource for the Irish Wolfhound community.
“We have compiled the database website, iwdb.org, with the help of many people worldwide without whose dedication, perseverance and sheer hard work this would not be happening now,” said spokesman Liz Thornton. “We thank all of the people involved.
“The site has been created to be a useful resource both for now and long into the future, andt will be continuously updated by a group of volunteers. We think it will be of interest to the casual Irish Wolfhound pet owner and a valuable and unequalled resource for the serious pedigree student and responsible breeder.
“IWDB.org takes a fresh and complete approach to modern pedigree research.”
Visitors can expect these features, Mrs Thornton said:
There is no limit on the amount of searches a user can make, she added.
“Visitors can use any data from iwdb.org in any non-commercial – and friendly – way they like. The iwdb.org workgroup is keen to allow this resource to be accessed by approved research projects.”
