AND THEN before we knew it, the Circuit reached its conclusion as we assembled on the Saturday at the Rioch Athletic Grounds in Castleisland for Tralee’s 43rd all-breed championship show.
Despite a number of people travelling over to Wales for the Welsh Kennel Club, there were still 1,464 dogs entered, a number which secretary Maudie Burke was delighted with. The show was sponsored as usual by Pet Master, with Mervyn Webb representing the company in the photographs.
As always at Tralee, there was a good mix of nationalities among the judging panel, some having travelled down from Limerick after their assignment two days earlier.
Unfortunately, Tralee was to encounter the worst of the week’s weather but thankfully the morning’s judging took place in lovely sunshine before the predicted rain appeared just after lunchtime. However, stoic as ever, show manager Ned Burke never lost his smile and with efficient management brought the proceedings to a finish, ironically in the evening sunshine, at just after 5pm the end of a busy and enjoyable week, win or lose, for everyone.
Another Circuit over, but rest assured that the clubs are already well advanced in their planning for 2016 when the Circuit is a week later, starting with Clonmel on Sunday August 21, Killarney on Tuesday 23, Limerick on Thursday 25 and finishing up with Tralee on Saturday 27.
