AS WE approached the magnificent entrance to Harewood House with its spectacular surroundings, the sun was already threatening the glorious heat that it was to offer throughout the weekend.
The weather was to present its own challenges for many exhibitors simply to keep all the dogs happy and ready to show. Leeds committee has a zero tolerance policy on dogs in cars to try to ensure that no dog is put in a distressing situation. To make this clear an announcement was made in the morning of each day and signs stated that action would be taken as officials were patrolling the car park, but thankfully even with the extreme weather no action was necessary.
Another good result was that the high profile breeds passed their health checks, despite the heat.
The many ice cream vans scattered across the venue benefited gratefully from the blazing heat and it was common to see exhibitors and their dogs sharing an ice cream.
The layout was very similar to the previous year with the benching and wet weather rings around the outside of the field with trade stands and the outdoor rings in the centre.
The wet weather rings were used by a few judges not because of any typical wet English weather but because it was too hot for some of the exhibits.
The best in show marquee was situated in front of the officials' and judges' tent which this year had been upgraded. As the Tour de France had visited the same grounds three weeks earlier, it was decided that instead of taking down the marquee which had been in front of Harewood House when Kate and William cut the ribbon to start the Tour, it would be more environmentally friendly if they moved it to somewhere else on the ground. The dog show was therefore allowed to use the 'royal' tent.
A few changes of judge had been posted online: Lhasa Apsos were judged by Ken Warrington, Alaskan Malamutes by Jeff Horswell, West Highland White Terriers by Brian Smith, Pugs by Jean Lockett, Japanese Spitz by Jill Peak and Tibetan Spaniels by Pat Gregory.
Unfortunately two further judges had to be replaced as they were taken ill during the day's judging and were unable to complete their appointment. Staffordshire Bull Terriers changed to Brian Owens and Bert Easdon completed the judging of Pugs.
From Norway Espen Engh judged all seven groups and therefore had a BIS line-up of dogs which he had himself judged throughout the three days.
Many celebrations took place during the show; indeed the cleaner found the evidence after collecting 30 empty wine bottles in one tent and then the following day found a mattress in the skip. Shouldn't dog showing be about the laughs and the fun which you have with friends?
Martin Sanders was the commentator on the first day after giving BOB to the Saluki who later went on to take the group. Peter Jolley provided the commentary on the final five groups and then BIS.
After announcing Espen into the ring for a final time and one last round of applause, Peter introduced each group winner into the BIS ring which had beautifully presented flower arrangements surrounding the white picket fence. The judges were seated in the area at the top of the ring, near the collecting ring, to get the best view of the exhibits.
After watching the dogs enter the ring Espen went over the dogs for a second time to remember the merits of each, then asked each of them to complete an up and down to assess their movement again. Then with the suspense building and Peter mentioning the award boards, our judge decided that he would like to see the final seven parade the BIS ring one more time so he sent them all around to the end.
Before long the boards were being called for after a final glance up and down his spectacular line-up and he walked towards Debbie Pearson and her Shetland Sheepdog Ch Edglonian Singin The Blues. After approaching the BIS board she knelt on the floor with tears in her eyes and cuddled her dog. Following behind her was Lee Cox and Toy Poodle Ch Vanitonia As You Wish who is owned by Tom Isherwood and Ann Evans.
After Espen thanked the other exhibitors Peter announced it was time for them to complete a final lap of honour to a tremendous applause and cheers.
After putting on another successful show, Leeds officials and committee can now look forward to what 2015 will offer and who knows, maybe we will all be blessed with the beautiful sunshine for another year.
Report by Sarah Gibbons and Hayley Jones.
The opening group for Leeds 2014 was the hounds which began as scheduled at 4.30pm with judge Espen Engh of Norway taking the ring. He has the pleasure of juding all the seven groups and BIS. He selected a shortlist of nine of which the top four are featured in the photographs and captions.

Best in Show
What a privilege! What a joy! Judging all the groups & BIS at this great dog show was one of the very highlights of my life in dogs. Leeds has for more than 30 years been & now more than ever will remain one of my very favourite dog shows. As usual, the committee offered a show second to none, including outstanding hospitality from beginning to end.
From a judge’s point of view, judging all the groups & then BIS is an amazing experience. Not unusually the BIS-judge will have to sit through the group judging watching one favourite after the other leave the competition. On this day I had nobody else to blame but myself, & I am more than happy to accept the responsibility for the line-up that appeared in the final competition. I thought it was a knock-out BIS line-up, & judged by the most enthusiastic crowd, I was not alone in my opinion.
The Shetland Sheepdog, Ch Edglonian Singin The Blues, did not put a foot wrong, neither moving or standing still. Not only do I find him an outstandingly beautiful dog, but it was hard to take my eyes away from him the way he just stood there, with his feet solidly planted on the ground, strutting his stuff & then moved without spending a calorie. If ever a dog asked to win, he did so today, & I was more than happy to oblige.
The Toy Poodle, Ch Vanitonia As You Wish, an exquisitely beautiful piece of art with nothing left to coincidence – was a more than worthy reserve.
ESPEN ENGH (Norway)
A very pleasing quality group & with four truly outstanding dogs in the placements, I kept nine for further consideration.
Those selected, but not placed included the Beagle, Annavah Katrina; L/h Dachs, Ch/Ir Ch Dachville Special Blend; Min W/h Dachs, Stargang Walkin On Sunshine; Deerhound, Ch Kwaricott Corelli; & the Pharaoh Hound, Vaskurs Linford Christie Skumpanson at Ynchreenoo.
G1 the Saluki, Ch Classicus Cassander, outstandingly beautiful b/silver dog, combining masculine power & strength with elegance & grace of outline. Ideal proportions & excellent overall balance for his breed; a perfect example of being typically moderate without being mediocre in any way. Classical head with moderate width of skull. Dignified, exotic expression from oval shaped eyes. Long & strong neck, well set into sloping shoulders with balanced return of upper arm. Correct slightly arched loin, well set & carried tail. In excellent condition for both coat & musculature. Above all he moved with an outstanding balance & typical light & effortless gait, never missing a step, seemingly able to go on all day, & on top of that dead sound coming & going which is rare indeed in this breed.
G2 the Whippet, Ch Shalfleet Simply A Lord, another lovely sighthound combining substance & elegance to perfection, excelling in overall balance & shape. Typical head with correct width between the eyes, lovely bright & alert expression from well shaped, dark eyes. Elegantly arched, muscular neck. Excellent depth of chest. Above all he has a lovely proportioned body with just the right curves in the right places, smooth as glass & flowing, difficult to achieve in a male while retaining masculinity & balance. Well angulated both ends. Lovely w/br coat. Very sound mover from all angles, I would have preferred slightly less speed to show off his suppleness.
G3 the Ridgeback, Ch Gunthwaite Midnite Preacha, stunning masculine, strong, muscular & upstanding dog, completely filling the eye on the stack with his perfect balance & outline. Typical strong & masculine head with flat skull, broad between ears & correct stop, excellent pigmentation. Beautiful, well shaped, dark eyes. Lovely strong & beautifully crested neck into well laid back shoulders. Well angulated both ends. Excellent body proportions with strong topline, especially on the stack. Very powerful over back & loin. Excellent muscular condition. Long & perfectly symmetrical ridge with excellent crowns. Lovely dark red colour. Very sound mover from all angles. A dog with much to offer the breed.
G4 the Elkhound, Ch/Ir Ch Ennafort The One And Only, very typy, feminine bitch, combining being well up on legs with optimal size & correct square proportions, powerful without lumber. Typical wedge shaped head with excellent width of skull, small & well set ears, dark, medium sized eyes full of keen expression. Strong neck well set into shoulders, firm topline, excellent high set tail with a good curl. Typical moderate, but balanced angulation behind. Lovely clear coat colour, but coat on the day not even close to full bloom, somewhat detracting from her compactness. Exceptional mover from all directions.
A rather variable group, I was very pleased with the ones that made the cut & truly impressed with the four placements. These included the GWP, Ch Trollängens Runar at Bareve; Large Munsterlander, Ch/Dutch Ch Ghyllbeck Rapax; & Clumber, Sh Ch Tweedsmuir Dambuster.
G1 the Pointer, Sh Ch Afterglow Bare Face Lie at Kanix, a wonderfully athletic dog with a particularly attractive body silhouette, combining strength with a degree of quality only found in this breed. Masculine, if not exceptional head, well proportioned & with a typical prominent occiput. Very attractive, intelligent expression from dark eyes. Very good leathers. Beautiful neck, so well set with that beautiful flow into withers & shoulders. Excellent topline, well set tail of medium length, used to his advantage at all times. Perfectly balanced angulation fore & aft. Most of all he impressed with his outstanding powerful & sound movement, making a simply stunning outline on the move & just screaming Pointer.
G2 the Gordon Setter, Sh Ch Hernwood Calypso Goddess, top notch bitch, sturdy & substantial as befits the breed, but at the same time most feminine & just teaming with quality, strong, stylish & typy. So well constructed with excellent, balanced angulation both ends. Lovely head with excellent profile, slightly rounded skull & very good depth, defined stop & good length of muzzle. Dark eyes & low set ears making a lovely expression. Strong neck, excellent shoulders. Deep brisket, just enough length of leg. Firm topline with just a slight arch over the loin. Well set tail, perfectly carried & continuing her lovely outline. Solid black coat with deep chestnut markings. Coat not at its very best, but more than good enough. Above all an outstanding mover from all angles, always in perfect tune with her handler.
G3 the Welsh Springer, Sh Ch Ferndel Aeron Magregor, quite simply a very beautiful dog who completely catches the eye because of his exceptional breed type & quality. I just loved his overall picture, his proportions & silhouette. Decidedly masculine & giving the impression of being built for endurance, but combined with plenty of quality. Lovely head with slightly domed skull & medium long muzzle. Excellent eyes & expression. Well set ears of correct size & shape. Long & strong neck, well set into shoulders. Deep chest, ideal length of leg. Excellent body shape with just a slight arch of loin. Lovely coat & rich red colour. Moved with plenty of drive from the side & perfectly sound from behind, but gave in just a little at the end.
G4 the Spanish Water Dog, Valentisimo Pacopilik, lovely bitch of excellent proportions & balance, feminine & with quality, yet strong & robust. Lovely head of ideal proportions with flat skull, somewhat longer than & parallel with the muzzle. Very good pigmentation. Dark, expressive eyes. Well set, medium large ears. Neck not too long, well set into shoulders. Balanced angulation both ends. Deep chest with plenty of heart room, level topline. Well set tail. Tight feet. Typical coat & colour. Showing lots of power & drive in movement, very balanced & very sound as seen from the front.
Another strong group where I was spoilt for choice. The following were among the nine dogs shortlisted, but did not make it to the placements: the Bearded Collie, Pattishawl Just The One To Cheryshd; Border Collie, Aust Ch/Sh Ch Waveney Kozmonaut; Finnish Lapphund, Ch/Int/Lux/Bel/Dutch Ch Elbereth Matkamies, & the Samoyed, made up on the day, Ch Nikitta Katch A Falling Star.
G1 the Shetland Sheepdog, Ch Edglonian Singin The Blues, what can I say? This strong & masculine b/m dog with an immaculate outline impressed me no end. There is no way he can be denied, you have to either love him or leave him – & I definitely love him. I would like no more of him, but find him totally in balance with himself, a great illustration of an overall impression where no part appears out of proportion to the whole. His strong, masculine head fits him like a glove & is in proportion to the rest of him; a long tapering blunt wedge with width of skull that corresponds to his length of skull & muzzle, refined enough to fit the dog. Lovely almond shaped eyes. Arched neck, smoothly running into his shoulders. Excellent length of leg & depth of chest. Great body shape & correctly carried low set tail. Lovely double coat of the right amount to enhance his silhouette. Well broken up in his merle. Smooth, graceful & light on his feet in movement, covering ground with a minimum of effort, true coming & going. Who can be surprised that he is the breed’s all-time record holder? I was more than delighted to add to his record today.
G2 the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Charibere Simply Special at Chezanna, a truly stunning young dog, unlucky to meet the winner in such sparking form. He combines the required great size with substance & elegance to absolute perfection. Lovely head with great balance between width & length of skull, not too much stop, all smooth, well filled & all quality. Dark, almond shaped eyes, well placed, giving him a highly typical expression. Strong neck of balanced length, well set into shoulders. Typical medium angulation in front, he stood so very well over his legs & feet. Excellent topline with lovely balance & flow, well extended ribcage. Well set tail. Strong double dewclaws. Lovely coat quality if not in absolute full coat on the day, which I could easily forgive for his outstanding qualities. An exceptional mover from the side & from behind, as a youngster he still needs to widen somewhat in his front, but must have a brilliant future just around the corner.
G3 the Tervueren, Hawksflight Someone Like’u, outstanding feminine bitch of excellent type & quality. She impressed with the rare combination of being truly square in proportion with outstanding, breed typical movement. Lovely, feminine head with ideal length, so well chiselled, skull & muzzle of equal length & parallel in planes. Dark eyes of perfect size & placement & well set, triangular ears giving her a superb expression. Excellent nape of neck, very well set into moderately angulated shoulders. Still a young bitch, she will no doubt go on developing in front. Lovely body outline. Well set & carried tail. Beautiful colour & just enough coat. Exceptional mover with great freedom of action, typically brisk & keeping her lovely outline at all times & very much in tune with her handler.
G4 the Puli, Ch Zaydah You Win Again for Vaucluse, a beautiful bitch of excellent size & proportions making a wonderful outline on the table. Correct rather small head compared to the body, appearing round in shape. Lovely eye shape & colour, giving her a typical lively expression. Strong, well set neck. Excellent length or leg, combined with a short loin & level topline, making for a lovely square silhouette. Deep ribbed. Well balanced angulation both ends. Well set & carried tail. Excellent bone & feet. Lovely coat & colour. Typical mover; sound & parallel, quick, lively & active without excessive drive, most of the time carrying herself well. A lovely representative of her breed & sex.
A group with some lovely dogs, but also with a few that left quite a lot to be desired. I shortlisted seven dogs, the following leaving without a placement: the Malamute, Ch Arcticbreeze Midnite Echo; Dobermann, Ch Jojavik Poison Ivy; & the Leonberger, Ch Jocolda Chie Mihara.
G1 the Newfoundland, Ch Morrelham Highland Park, with his stunning, well balanced silhouette, this majestic young dog completely filled my eye from the moment he entered the big ring. He combines strength with activity, very good bone & substance with being light on his feet. Lovely head profile, broad enough for a young dog, but still not fully mature in head. Dark & small, very sound eyes, giving him a lovely expression. Strong neck, smoothly set into his shoulders. Excellent proportions from very good length of leg for balance & matching body length. Very shapely body outline with firm, strong topline. Deep & capacious chest. Straight front legs both standing & moving. Moderately angulated behind. Well set tail which he used to his advantage on the move. Lovely double coat & jet black colour. Moved with strength, freedom, drive & balance & rarely parallel for his breed, especially coming towards me.
G2 the Bullmastiff, Ch Old Manila’s Whisky Mac for Optimus, powerful, masculine, well proportioned dog of excellent type & quality. Very athletic, strong without lumber. Beautiful head with large & square skull. Excellent stop, correct length of muzzle, neither too short nor too long, excellent width of muzzle & jaws. Dark eyes, lovely expression. Correct bite. Strong & well arched neck. Moderate forechest & return of upper arm. Straight front legs with excellent bone all the way down. Capacious & compact body with excellent body proportions. I would not like any more arch of loin than this. Well set & carried tail. Strong cat feet. Lovely coat & colour with excellent mask. Very powerful & sound mover from all angles.
G3 the Bernese, Ch Bernsteph Chloe, a dignified older bitch in great nick, strong & sturdy, yet very active. Well proportioned, compact & strong & well constructed all through. Not the head type that I am looking for, but making sense & well balance within herself. Lovely, very friendly expression from her dark, well shaped eyes. Well set ears. Strong neck, medium long as befits the breed. Moderate, but very balanced angulated both ends. Deep & capacious chest, excellent width in front. Strong back & loin making a typical outline both standing & moving. Well set & carried tail. Soft & silky coat with very pleasing colour & markings, rich tan. Moved very soundly from all angles & with excellent balance & drive. Congratulations to being made up a champion on the day.
G4 the Portuguese Water Dog, Ch Robenger Forest Sunrise over Austwell, well balanced, well muscled, robust dog with excellent outline & proportions. Head of pleasing size & proportions, dark brown eyes set well apart. Typical rather short neck, well set, carrying his head up high at all times. Deep & capacious chest, short back, but still correctly somewhat rectangular in his proportions. Moderately angulated behind with strong muscles. Medium set tail that he used to his advantage most of the time on the move. Of the longer, loosely waved coat type, very well presented. Strong, sound & active mover without exaggeration.
The shortlisted dogs in this group included the Border Terrier, Ch Dandyhow Dr Walter; Lakeland, Ch/Am Ch Larkspur Acadia Save Me A Spot; Norfolk, Ch Jaeva Cufflink; & the SCWT, Ch Silkcroft Colour Of Magic.
G1 the Skye, Ch Salena The Special One, standing on the table, he took my breath away, looking truly sensational with a stunning outline & very balanced long & low proportions, strong, yet so elegant & dignified. Masculine & powerful head, typically with only moderate width of skull & with very good length of the whole head. Dark brown eyes with a fiery expression. Lovely prick ears. Very pleasing nape of neck. Deep chest, short legs as consistent with free movement. Long body, keeping his topline level on the stack at all times. Strong, well angulated hindquarters. Lovely straight & hard topcoat. Very sound mover coming & going & with good propelling power.
G2 the WFT, Ch Travella Striking Steel, what a great show dog, never putting a foot wrong & always asking for attention. Very well balanced & squarely proportioned, truly a short backed hunter covering a lot of ground as asked for in the Standard. Masculine head with fair shape & length. Dark, well placed eyes with fiery expression. Very pleasing ears which he uses to his advantage. Strong neck & excellent withers into a short, level back. Deep chest, well ribbed. Strong, well angulated hindquarters. Compact feet. Well carried tail. In an excellent jacket. Moved with very good drive from the side, parallel coming & going, never missing a beat.
G3 the Scottish Terrier, Stuane Kings Sword, lovely young dog of excellent type, quality & proportions. He is just bang on for that difficult & admirable combination of a thick-set body, short legs & still a long head. Active & spirited, still dignified. Lovely head with flat skull & slight stop, excellent quality & chiselling. Dark eyes under his eyebrows, giving him a keen expression. Well set, neat ears. Strong neck. Balanced angulation both ends. Very well developed in his body, deep & capacious, particularly for one so young. Well set tail, thick at the root. Excellent black coat, harsh & dense. Had an unpleasant encounter with an insect in the group ring which cost him some of his concentration on the move, but at times moved more than well enough to earn him his placement in the group.
G4 the Cesky, Janski Ultra Violet, a lovely, feminine bitch with a particularly beautiful silhouette, unique for this breed. Typically rather long & low set in her body proportions. Feminine, refined, typically long head with slight stop. Friendly expression. Correct ears. Arched, medium long neck. Well placed shoulders. Level back, but with a pleasing rise over the loin. Moderately sprung ribs. Well set, long tail. Typical coat with excellent sheen & in great nick. Impressed in movement; parallel coming & going & with excellent drive from the side, keeping her lovely outline at all times. I was very happy to have such a beautiful representative of a breed that rarely places in groups.
A lovely, quality group, the following BOB winners made the short-cut: the Dalmatian, Int/Norw/Dan/Dutch Ch Solbo’s Kayo, an old favourite from my home country; French Bulldog, Ch Boule And Onuba Zinderella of Sealaw; Min Schnauzer, Funflash Euphoric Wonder; Min Poodle, Ch Michandy Great Expectation by Navarre; & the Standard Poodle, Dinasti Miss Defiant over Afterglow.
G1 the Toy Poodle, Ch Vanitonia As You Wish, wow – what a cracker! Young black bitch of fabulous type & quality, just my cup of tea. She excels in proportions & outline, well up on legs, very short in body, plenty & again plenty of carriage & style like the thoroughbred she is. Well chiselled head with excellent length, the darkest of eyes with a lovely, arrogant expression. Long & crested neck which she uses to her advantage both standing & moving to look down her nose in an oooh so poodley manner, so confident & very full of herself. Balanced angulation both ends. Super topline & well set tail, finishing off the silhouette with a typical shelf. Excellent coat. Keeping her stunning silhouette at all times while moving around the ring with head & tail up, striding out with no effort & totally in sync with her handler. Truly one of a kind.
G2 the Bulldog, Ch Sealaville He’s Tyler, instantly attractive, masculine & very substantial dog, combining type & soundness to perfection & a show dog per excellence, I was most impressed with this young dog. Powerful in his overall appearance & compact enough. Large & massive head, big skull, broad & blunt in muzzle. Just the right amount of wrinkles without excess. Lovely dark & round eyes, placed wide apart & very sound. Open nostrils. Well placed rose ears. Strong neck, well set. Well let down between forelegs & ideal width in front. Typical topline with good rise over the loin, but again without excess. Very well ribbed. The soundest of legs & feet. Outstanding mover from any angle. A dog like this – typy, sound as a bell & a great showman – must be able to do the breed a whole lot of good.
G3 the Shiba Inu, Ch Vormund Jean Paul Gaultier, very attractive masculine dog in ship shape condition both for coat & muscles & at his very prime. Very well balanced & well proportioned. Typical head with all the important breed features; good width of skull, well developed cheeks, good stop, tight lips & excellent pigmentation. Well placed & carried ears. Strong neck. Firm topline. Well set tail. Correct angulation in front, would not like any more angulation behind, but it all comes together on the move as he is an outstanding mover from all angles. Very well handled to show off his many qualities.
G4 the Tibetan Spaniel, Ch Caselden Agatha Christie, lovely bitch of excellent type & size. Very balanced & well proportioned, alert, yet arrogant & exotic. Well shaped head with slightly domed skull & pleasing earset, I would not have liked the head any larger. Dark, oval eyes of medium size. Moderately short, well set neck into good shoulders & pleasing return of upper arm. Typical hare feet. Excellent topline, covering good ground. Well set & carried tail. Correct moderate angulation behind. Coat of excellent structure & an ideal amount, enhancing rather than hiding her outline & showing daylight underneath. She came into her own in movement, free, active & energetic, at all times keeping her lovely carriage & outline. She has only done moderately well under me before, but as assessed again on the day she certainly deserved the recognition.
There was plenty of quality in this group, but a couple of dogs who impressed from a distance failed on closer inspection. The ETT was missed in the group. Still there were more than enough quality dogs left, which included the following finalists: the Bolognese, Starexpress Italian Skies; Havanese, Larwinsca Lady Guinevere; Lowchen, Ch Broevans Unspoilt Hero; Papillon, Ch Gleniren Shootin Starmaker Sunshoo; & the Pomeranian, Ch Our Ambassador for Trenarwyn.
G1 the Japanese Chin, Ch Sleepyhollow Raphael, most attractive dog, combining daintiness & elegance with compactness & masculinity, & above all a great moving dog. Well rounded head with good width of skull, well cushioned, wide & short muzzle. Beautiful dark eyes of good size, small ears. Correct moderate length of neck, but still showing with an excellent carriage. Compact & square body. Excellent topline. High set tail with plenty of coat, carried well over back. Typical hare feet. Long, silky body coat with nothing left to coincidence. Lovely b/w colour, evenly distributed. Moved like the wind from the side & sound from behind, never missing a beat & totally in sync with his handler. Impressive!
G2 the Chinese Crested, Ch Debrita Diaz, stunning bitch with perfect body proportions & outline. I liked just about everything about her, the culmination of combining the very best from the previous rather different types within the breed into one. Graceful, yet powerful, medium-boned, feminine yet strong. Well chiselled quality head, very well shaped & proportioned, dark eyes, excellently spaced. Great ears – large, erect & well set. Beautiful neck, again combining length with strength & well arched. Well angulated both ends. Typical long hare feet. Deep & capacious chest, excellent topline, well set tail. Excellent crest, socks & healthy skin. She moved with lovely style, carriage, reach & drive & most of the time with her tail well raised & pushed the winner hard. This bitch will no doubt go down in history as an all-time great.
G3 the Bichon, Ch Bobander Too Kool For Skool, impressively masculine, yet smart & elegant, well proportioned young dog. Typically gay & friendly, never giving up showing himself to his advantage. Well proportioned, masculine head in balance with body & with dark, round well placed eyes with halos & a black nose in a triangle. Well set & carried ears. Arched neck, at all times carrying his head proudly. Well angulated in front placing his front legs well under him, still with good length of leg. Very good forechest & deep brisket for a young dog. Typical tuck-up. Well angulated behind. Well set & carried tail. Moved with style & pride, with reach & drive & little effort. Well handled, but no more speed than this, please.
G4 the Min Pin, Ch Shetopa King Of Arabia, very smart, compact, short coupled & sturdy dog with a beautiful outline & an excellent mover. Strong & masculine, he does not need any more volume. Excellent length of head, flat skull, strong muzzle & jaws, nothing toyish about his head. Very good pigmentation. Erect ears, set on high. Strong, yet elegant neck with good arch. Great front, rarely seen in the breed. Square body with firm topline, slightly sloping, I would not like any more body than this. Well angulated behind with strong thighs. Bang-on tailset. Firm feet. Excellent coat. Such a rarely sound dog, very true & parallel in movement, stylish & with drive from the side, his side movement possibly fitting the FCI Standard even better than the British.
