The latest episode of the DOG WORLD produced series is the biggest of the year. The Around the Dog World team were stationed at the NEC for five days to capture the best action from Crufts and the Pawscars 2017.
ATDW – Crufts and Pawscars 2017 airs on Thursday (Apr 6) at 8pm on Horse & Country TV (2ky 253), again at 11pm and Saturday (Apr 8) at 10pm. The whole programme will also be available on the dogworld.tv website from Friday morning.
The show kicks off with the Pawscars awards ceremony, a celebration of the best of British dogdom, with awards handed out to winners of 14 categories voted for by the public.
The whole night is held to raise money for children and canine charities, and throughout the night some inspirational videos showing the worthy causes the trust supports brought tears to the eyes of most. Particularly poignant was seeing Jessica Bryant, a patient of PACT Sheffield Children’s Hospital, collect the £10,000 raised for the hospital last year and personally thank the audience.
After the emotional rollercoaster of the Pawscars, the following day was set for unbridled joy and excitement that only Crufts can bring.
The ATDW cameras are busy at Crufts, running between halls to capture the best of the breed judging before the groups round out each day.
On Thursday watch history being made in the Jack Russell Terrier ring, where the breed was classified at the world’s greatest dog show for the first time. And later in the weekend it was historic for the Spanish Water Dog who were being awarded CCs for the first time ever. Add to these the hot competition in Akitas, Frenchies and more, there is plenty to squeeze into the ATDW Crufts coverage.
After highlights of each group the winners speak to Simon Baillie as they float on cloud nine. This year saw some of the most surprised winners with thrilling young dogs surely set to make their mark throughout 2017.
All of this of course builds up to Best in show where Jeff Horswell awarded the biggest prize in the dog world. Just in case you have been on Mars, we won’t reveal it here, but to say the winners were shocked is an understatement.
The whole programme is held together by the insight and analysis of Andrew Brace and Simon Parsons.
If you want to relive an excellent Crufts or catch up on what you didn’t get to see over the weekend - Around the Dog World this month is a must watch.
