Not all trials stop during the summer; there are a few opens and one or two PD championships. One of the latter took place in Scotland at Lauder recently, although I am not sure it could be described as a ‘summer trial’.
At Exeter DTC championship show this year Pat Watson judged the dog ticket and Herbie Watson judged the bitches and the entries were slightly up on last year with 23 entries in the dog class and 19 in the bitch class.
Training other peoples dogs is not something that I do regularly, but occasionally I get asked if I would do some work with a dog to get it started.

VYNE IS one of our biggest championship shows of the year, held at Newbury Showground. It attracts the best from all over the country in all heights. Not just because of the championship classes, but because of the Olympia qualifiers too.
No trials to report on this week although there have been one or two opens, but the next three championships are all PDs, with the Scottish Working Trials Society Lauder trial in May, Wessex in June and Surrey in July.
