Discover Dogs set to move to bigger venue
THIS YEAR’S Discover Dogs is to move to Earls Court 1 as it has outgrown its former Earls Court 2 venue.
Following the success of last year’s event the Kennel Club has decided to move to the bigger London venue for Discover Dogs 2009 which is due to be held on November 14 and 15.
KC spokesman Caroline Kisko said: “Discover Dogs is an important event for the KC and dogs in general as it allows us to reach and educate prospective dog owners about the importance of responsible dog ownership and choosing the right breed for them.
“Pre-audit estimates showed us that last year’s event attracted more than 26,000 visitors so the move to Earls Court 1 celebrates the continued success of the event and the love that people have for pedigree dogs.
“The KC recognises the importance of the event to the dog buying public and hopes that by offering free entry for children under 12 we can make it even more affordable for a very enjoyable family day out.”
There will be a dedicated health zone to provide information to prospective owners on the importance of buying from a KC accredited breeder and information on the KC Charitable Trust which has pledged more than £500,000 to dog health over the next two years as well as raising and distributing funds to many worthy dog causes. Discover Dogs will also play host to the Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year final, the semi-finals for the Kennel Gazette Junior Warrant competition and National Junior Handling UK final.
The event is known as London’s leading dog event providing dog lovers with the chance to meet more than 190 different breeds of dog and speak to breed representatives about everything from health to training, agility to grooming.
Dogs from all areas of life will also be present from those that work as Pets as Therapy and assistance dogs to Metropolitan Police dogs all displaying their life saving talents.
There will also be over 100 trade stands selling everything a dog lover could want.
