THE KENNEL Club has announced several new appointments following elections at its recent General Committee meetings.

Weimaraner breeder and retired vet Gil Simpson (Sireva) has become a member of the Crufts Sub-Committee, and following Val Foss' retirement, Gerald King has been elected chairman of the Young Kennel Club of which Mrs Foss is now president.

Following Dr Ruth Barbour's retirement, Dr Ron James has been elected a member of the Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee, and Jeff Horswell has become a member of the Dog Health Group. Mr Horswell has also been elected a member of the Judges Sub-Committee, in place of Ellis Hulme, who has stepped down as a committee member.

Mark Cocozza has been elected as a member of the Disciplinary Sub-Committee in place of Dr James following his appointment to the Finance committee, although Dr James will act as a veterinary advisor to this sub-committee when required.

The General Committee agreed that Dr Jeff Sampson and Dr James should be invited to join the Genetics and Health Screening Sub-group and the Breed Standards and Conformation Sub-group of the Dog Health Group respectively.

All other chairmen and vice-chairmen remain the same.
