Chinese Crested dies at East of England
A CHINESE Crested collapsed and died in his cage at East of England ch show.
Alexandra Cole’s 14-month-old Doucai Stand And Eatliver was with Crested and Pharaoh Hound puppies in the cage when he became ill.
It is not known what killed him.
Some Crested exhibitors tried to resuscitate him but nothing could be done.
Mrs Cole was standing near the cage at the time and her friend was sitting beside it.
"I don’t know what happened,” Mrs Cole said. "There are a few possibilities. He definitely didn’t have a fit.
"They were being fed some sandwiches, but apart from a couple of noises which we thought came from the Pharaoh puppy, we heard and saw nothing. He could have choked or been bitten, we just don’t know.
"He had no health problems and comes from a very healthy line. His father was put to sleep at 14 and his grandmother was nearly 16 when she died.”
Dandy won the RCC at Bath.
"He was such a nice dog and really beautiful – my pride and joy,” she said. "My only consolation is that I used him at stud and from that litter I have his son.”
