FORMER Blue Peter presenter Peter Purves had to be taken to hospital when he was bitten while judging a dog show.
Crufts commentator Mr Purves, 69, was examining a three-year-old terrier cross during a ‘most handsome dog’ class when it bit his left hand, drawing blood. Doctors sealed the wound with butterfly strips and Mr Purves returned to the Scruffts show which was being held at Notcutts Garden Centre in Norwich.
“Being bitten was an unpleasant punctuation to the show, but it’s just one of those things,” he said. “The dogs were lined up and this one was third in line. I looked at his teeth and then his ear and he bit me.

Antibiotics

“It was a puncture bite between my thumb and forefinger of my left hand. I was also given antibiotics and a tetanus injection. I was able to go back and keep judging and I’m absolutely fine now.”
