With deep regret DOG WORLD has to announce the death on Thursday of its managing director Kerry Williamson, following a short illness.
Kerry, who was just 51, had joined DOG WORLD as a trainee sub-editor in 1979 and ever since had played a major role in the success of the company. As well as being involved in all aspects of the editorial side, and having produced DOG WORLD ANNUAL, she was instrumental in the transition to modern publishing technology, and latterly in the development of the website.
Since her teenage years Kerry had been devoted to the Tibetan Spaniel breed. In her first litter she bred her first champion, Nimana Lhamu, and since then, although she only ever kept fewer than a handful of dogs, she enjoyed much success in the show ring, notably with the famous Ch Twinley Tarantella. She was a championship show judge of the breed and had officiated at Crufts.
Kerry will be greatly missed by all who knew her and all at DOG WORLD would like to send our sympathy to her husband Adrian Willson.

I cannot believe I'm reading this - Kerry was a real genuine, lovely lady who always had time for everyone. She was instrumental in finding a position for me at Dog World - believing in the fact that I could make a contribution to the success of Dog World. RIP Kerry you have without doubt been taken far too soon - it has been a pleasure to have known you.

I never thought that we would lose Kerry at such a young age, she had so much to look forward to. I know excited she was about Dog World and life in general. She always fought my corner and in fact it was Kerry who sat beside me on my first day at Dog World over 27 years ago and taught me the basics of subbing. I will miss her wit and wisdom. I was so lucky to call her a friend, rest in peace Kerry and my love and condolences go to Adrian and the family and friends. Pam

Gone too soon, left us too early. The bestest friend ever for 45 years.

I can't believe I am reading this, to be gone from us at such an early age.... truly a lady in the real sense of the word, Kerry always had time for anyone she could help, as she has helped me over the years. She was such a knowledgeable person about her own breed and was willing to help any who asked. She will be sorely missed not only at Dog World but also in the world of dogs.

I'm devastated by this news. Kerry was such a lovely, kind and vibrant person who epitomised Dog World - a true dog enthusiast and a dedicated professional who loved the paper and all it stood for. She will be missed so much by her family, friends and colleagues. Sheila

Devastating news. Kerry’s love of dogs as pets as well as show dogs, her infectious laughter, remarkable ability to remain good humoured no matter what and kindness and made her a fantastic colleague and a wonderful friend. She will leave a tremendous gap in so many lives. My heart goes out to the present team at DW, husband Adrian, family and friends.

Dear all, I would like to thank you for all your lovely comments for such a popular and lovely person as my cousin Kerry was to you all. She left Basingstoke 30 years ago to start a new venture in which she achieved bringing so many people together. It is so sad to lose someone so talented and well liked as Kerry was. Rest in peace Kerry with your Mum and Dad where you will always be in our thoughts Love John

Kerry was such a lovely person, so smart, so kind, so funny. What a shock and what a terrible shame. I had no idea she was poorly. My deepest sympathies to all who were close to her. What a terrible shock. I will never forget how kind she was to me when I moved far away from family and friends to work at Dog World many, many years ago. I had been so proud to see her rise in the ranks and felt she had probably such a lot more to contribute to the world of dogs as she had such a sense of fairness and perspective. Her love of her precious dogs shone through everything she did. What a very sad piece of unexpected news.

I didn't know Kerry personally, but it is always a great loss to family, friends and colleagues when someone who quite obvioulsy gave a whole lot of herself for the benefit of others, is taken so young. The tributes speak for themselves, my condolenses to everyone who loved and thought so much of her

It is hard to believe that it is almost a week since we received the tragic news about Kerry, and we still find it hard to take in the fact that this lovely, gentle and true lady is no longer with us. We knew Kerry since we began sending Irish news to Dog World back in '92, and have worked even closer with her in recent years. Always fair minded, patient, and ever a diplomat, her enthusiasm for Dog World's success and her absolute committment to her beloved Tibetan Spaniels, shone through. She will be sadly missed by all at Irish Canine Press, and we send our sincere sympathy to her husband, Adrian, her business partner Stuart, and all her colleagues at Dog World. Joyce and Des Manton
