I HAVE some momentous and exciting news. For the first time since records began, there is another Kennel Club recognised Miniature Bull Terrier breed club. The KC recently approved the Southern Miniature Bull Terrier with full breed club status. The SMBTC has been around since 1997 in its non-recognised form, holding fun days and a Mini match annually for its members, together with regular newsletters.
It had applied for KC recognition twice before but had been turned down on each occasion. It appears that the third time is indeed lucky, at least for the SMBTC. Following the success of the recent world’s first PLL seminar, the club will be offering more events for its members as well as now being able to hold open shows.
I know the KC does not lightly recognise new breed clubs and, as secretary, I have been following this up since ’07 when the process for this round of submissions for recognition began, so I know how much hard work and patience – and just a dash of persistence – it has taken to get to this point.
My personal thanks go to all the committee, our members and supporters for ‘keeping the faith’ and a particular mention goes to Zelda Lewis who has worked so hard for the club and has really been the glue that has held us together.
