THREE judges have been passed to give CCs for Manchester Terriers through the Judges Development Programme – Lesley Crawley, Jeff Horswell and Max King.
The WELKS schedule lists the judge for Manchester Terriers as ‘to be announced’. This is the first time in a long career showing dogs that I have seen that. Our A list is a bit flyblown, but surely it is not that bad.
Did you see the picture of WELKS in 1981 in Simon Parsons’ column of Jan 15? I remember that show – it was so cold. I had on several layers of warm clothes with a quilted jacket. On top of that again, I had a quilted coat and I was still frozen to the marrow. I remember being laughed at and teased by Bernie Fallon and Phil Bealey for my red nose and blue face.
The poor dog was cold, too and we left as soon as we could. We drove to my mother’s place in Weston-super-Mare with the heater going full blast and it took the whole journey to thaw out. I don’t remember how my poor dog did in the ring, who the judge was or who won.
I hope that everybody has coped in this awful cold spell with no falls or breaks. It has been impossible to walk the dog properly here, but we now have grass again – remember that? Mind you, the ground is still frozen and the melted snow is just standing in lakes on top of the grass, but it is nice to see the grass again.
