READERS will be sorry to hear that, due to ongoing health problems and on the advice of his doctor, Ray Platt will not be judging the STBEA championship show on Feb 27. He has also withdrawn from judging Sealyham Terriers at Crufts. I know he was looking forward to both these appointments and obviously he is very disappointed. He is undergoing tests and I am sure everyone joins in wishing him well.
Approved judges to complete the list for 2010 are: Darlington, David Mathias; South Wales, Les Aspin; and Belfast, Roger Crooks awarding CCs to our breed for the first time.
Catherine Owen has sent me a copy of a thank-you letter sent to her by the Animal Care Trust Royal Veterinary College in recognition of her ongoing efforts collecting and delivering used postage stamps to help raise funds for the trust. In addition to this stamp scheme, volunteers took part in the London Marathon, Great North Run and the British 10K Run, all successfully raising money.
The money has helped the trust to open a new reception area, separate waiting rooms for dogs and cats, extra consulting rooms and a pharmacy at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.
To enhance the hospital further an appeal has been launched called “Because Animals Matter” to fund the addition to its hydrotherapy suite and an underwater treadmill.
How pleasing to hear how the money is used, so keep those stamps coming – they really do help.
