A VERY happy new year to all Schipperke owners and readers of DOG WORLD – let’s hope the weather in the coming months will be a vast improvement over the last!
At BUBA, Mrs L Wilson (Lyncathmore) awarded DCC and BOB to the newly crowned cream, Mesdames Aylward and Burdett’s Carozza Man On A Mission, and RDCC to J Mance’s Ch Schipdale Orlando.
BCC, her all-important third, was Mesdames Percival’s Monterrez Jingle Belle for Hantreved, bred by Graham Cruze and no doubt sealing his claim to top breeder for 2009 in Schipperkes. RBCC was Mesdames Hart’s Ch Carozza Molly Malone with Ludwyn.
BP was J Mance’s Aradet Valentino, but Jan was unable to stay for the puppy group due to a back injury.
There was good news in the variety classes under Ken Sinclair – Orlando won a very respectable VHC in the champion stakes, with Molly Malone going one better in the RCC stakes with a reserve.
At LKA, all-rounder Ernie Paterson judged a good entry. He awarded third CCs to both the dog and bitch, creating two more champions, so we ended the year with a flurry of new titleholders. DCC was Mr and Mrs Holmes’ Ir Ch Monterrez Guardian and RDCC Mrs Reed’s Byquy Polar Prince.
BCC and BOB was Mr and Mrs Muggleton’s cream Rexford Royal Icing over Mywulf and RBCC Mrs West’s Am Ch Shalako The Last Rose at Bahram. BP was again Valentino.
Let’s hope all the new champions had good photos taken of for the champion’s book – hint, hint!
While the rest of you were at LKA, I was in Helsinki judging at the FKC’s Winner Show and the Nordic show on the following day. Here are the results of the Schipperke winners over the two days which, I understand, had very different entries, with only a few competing under both judges. Norman Deschuymere from Belgium judged an entry of 34 at the Winner Show while I judged an entry of 37 on the Nordic day.
Norman awarded DCC, CACIB dog and BOB to Valkohampaan Playboy (Sorvari Marjut and Liipo Kirsi, Hyvinkää) and BOS and CACIB bitch to Fandal’s Merry Mermaid (Heilä Sirpa, Uusikaupunki). BCC was Radash Devil May Care at Hatspar (Friman Birgitta, Javrebyn Sweden). Junior winner dog went to Corinnag Sigismund (Smeds Olle, Espoo).
BOB veteran went to Mariners Seamiss of Lynderry (Hyvärinen Eeva, Suonenjoki), BOS veteran to Faksimil Ipso Facto (Hansen Nina, Gråbo Sweden) and BOB breeder to kennel Valkohampaan (Saariokari Irma c/o Liipo Kirsi, Pori).
The next day, I awarded CACIB bitch and BOB to Fandal’s Jambalaya (Toivonen Niina, Turenki) and DCC, CACIB dog and BOS to Avidore Black Tie And Tail (Härkönen Hanna, Perttula). Junior winner dog went to Laperke Cool Cat Blues (Kantanen Leena and Issakainen Anu, Lappeenranta) and junior winner bitch to Fandal’s O’Macy (Toivonen Niina, Turenki). BCC was Coros Ginger (Purojärvi Jonna and Tuominen Pirjo-Riitta, Jyväskylä).
BOB veteran went to Seamiss, BOS veteran to Ipso Facto and BOB breeder to kennel Fandal’s (Salo Kristiina, Uusikaupunki).
I don’t mind telling you that I had no idea whatsoever which kennels any of the dogs came from until I got to VB – the 13-and-a-half-year-old Radash bitch was immediately evident as to her origins, gaining an excellent from me and second in her VB class, behind the outstanding veteran bitch and BVIB winner, Mariner’s Seamiss of Lynderry.
The bitches were wonderful overall and I could have easily taken the BOB, Fandal’s Jambalaya, home with me. The overall best breeders’ group, the kennel Fandal’s, was so typy and even with outstanding dogs, she is to be congratulated. And, of course, when the judging was done and I saw that the CACIB dog winner was bred in the UK by Diane Forknall. I really had a laugh and have this to say – I know I gave his brother two classes at the club’s championship show in October, but this boy is better! The owner evidently doesn’t show very much, so I hope she will continue as I placed him over all the champion males in the entry for the top award.
I have a correction to my last set of breed notes where I refer to the two older Schips in RSPCA rescue. I reported that the photos on the breed club’s website were taken by Karen Bugg. I have been informed that Judi Robjohns was the picture taker, and not as printed – apologies all around. I have no further news to report as to their situation, so I can only hope that some homes can be found soon for them.
Two more BVA/KC hip scheme scores to report – Aradet Rumour Has It over Trijem has a 7:5 score with her dam, Ch A Party Tricks, 8:7.
Here’s hoping all readers have a very happy and successful new year.
